A brief history of Daikin Air Conditioning
A recent Australian survey by Canstar Blue rated Daikin as one of the best brands for customer satisfaction based on reliability, value for money, functionality, quietness and service. Daikin has been providing air conditioned comfort in Australian homes and workplaces for over 45 years. Founded in Japan in 1924 by Akira Yamada, Daikin was originally called Osaka Kinzoku Kogyosho LTD and changed to the reknowned Daikin name in 1963.
In 1924, air conditioning was still a very young industry and it wasn’t until post war and the increasing construction of high rise office and residential buildings, that the demand for heavy duty air conditioning units and home air conditioners dramatically increased.
The 1951 Daikin air-conditioning history
In 1951, Daikin’s first packaged air conditioner was developed. By 1979 single split “cool only” units were sold in Australia and were a gift for the summer heat. In 1982 Daikin developed the world first commercial multi-split air conditioners by having individually controlled zones, saving Australian business huge energy and cost savings. By 2002 Daikin had launched their inverter ducted air conditioning range in Australia where units heated and cooled.
