Whether you have just bought a new house, are building a new house, or you’re renovating, choosing the right residential air conditioning can sometimes be a little confusing. You will need to consider the size of the area you would like to heat and cool, the amount you want to spend, the size and type of the unit, the energy efficiency and the ongoing running costs. Our team at Mako Air are experts in residential heating and cooling and can help you choose the perfect air conditioning system for your home.
What are the main types of Residential Air Conditioning?
- Split System Air Conditioners – are one of the most popular air conditioners installed in residences. Split system air conditioners have two parts, an indoor unit and an outdoor unit. The indoor component is usually mounted on the wall and this type of system is ideal to heat and cool one individual room in your home, or smaller compact open plan areas. The main benefits of a split system air conditioner are they are more affordable than other types of units, as you’re only purchasing and installing one system to provide you with heating and cooling. They also are more compact so take up less space, are quiet and you do not require ducting to use them.
- Multi Split Air Conditioning – similar to a split system air conditioner, but with one outdoor unit which is connected to multiple air conditioners. This type of residential air conditioner is ideal when you want different temperatures in different rooms, as you have control over individual room temperature settings. A multi split system can heat up to 5 rooms and are suitable for houses with limited space for ducted heating. Multi split systems also have the benefits of features such as motion sensors, WiFi settings and air purifiers, they are also very energy efficient when choosing to heat and cool rooms as needed.
- Ducted Air Conditioning – is the ultimate in residential air conditioning. Ducted air conditioning systems are ideal for heating and cooling your entire house. Although initially a more expensive system to install, their energy efficiency with all in one climate control can be very cost effective over time. Ducted air conditioning provides the perfect comfort and are quieter and more discreet, as the main system is installed outside and stylish air vents are positioned throughout your home. Ducted systems add value to home and are a great advantage point if you’re looking at selling your home.
